This webinar focused on the impact of technology adoption, including AI and Gen AI, on SMEs in Canada. Key topics included automation’s future workforce impact, security and privacy concerns, responsible adoption, data biases, and ethical considerations.
There are several large language models that I find useful. One that stands out is called "perplexity." You can think of it like a supercharged search engine. Instead of just providing links to articles, perplexity synthesizes information from multiple sources and presents you with a summary, along with references to where it found the information. Another tool I recently came across is called "Boodle Box." It's a comprehensive platform that brings together various AI tools, including perplexity and Clod, which is another powerful language model. These tools, along with specialized GPTs tailored for specific purposes, can be particularly helpful for small businesses.
Choosing the right AI tool can be daunting, especially in fields like healthcare where privacy is critical. Many tools are designed with specific sectors in mind, like healthcare. For example, there's a tool called Boodle Box that's designed to maintain privacy by storing data in a vectorized database, ensuring that even the platform doesn't have access to readable content. However, it's essential to conduct due diligence to ensure that any tool you choose meets your privacy requirements. Whether you're dealing with personally identifiable information or proprietary data, make sure the tool aligns with your privacy needs.
Using the internet to search ChatGPT can be useful, but it's essential to understand its limitations. ChatGPT is trained on data that may be over a year old, so it may not always provide the most up-to-date information. Additionally, its search capabilities are limited to its training data unless explicitly enabled to search the web. For certain searches, traditional search engines like Google may be more effective. However, tools like perplexity offer a middle ground by synthesizing information from multiple sources, providing a broader perspective than a typical search engine.
Absolutely, one of the main challenges is identifying where AI can add genuine value. To address this challenge, it's crucial to optimize the use of AI tools by learning how to prompt them effectively. Experimentation is key—try different approaches while keeping in mind the risks associated with data usage. By continually refining your use of AI and staying mindful of data privacy concerns, you can unlock its full potential.
Creating custom GPTs can be a valuable tool, but it's essential to proceed with caution, especially when dealing with proprietary information. Before using any tool, review its terms of service and understand how your data will be used. While there's a growing appetite for data to train AI models, it's crucial to ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards. Don't let concerns about data usage prevent you from leveraging AI where appropriate, but be vigilant about protecting sensitive information and only use data you have full control over.
